The New Jersey gaming market has had another excellent month. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released figures showing that gambling businesses produced $392.8 million in total gaming revenue for June. This was a significant gain in earnings over June of last year which, due to the pandemic, struggled. In fact, this was the fourth month in a row in which gaming revenue increased from the same period a year ago.
The increases do not necessarily mean the market has fully recovered since physical facilities were closed a year ago; only online gambling was available. However, the gambling market is showing a positive trend. This trend began in February of this year and has continued. Additionally, online gambling, which was not forced to shut down, has shown an increase over last year. Since internet gambling never closed, it seems to make a better comparison, and it was up 26% in June from a year ago.
